  • Promoting recycling initiatives among residents and businesses, serving as the main point of contact regarding recycling in Town buildings with custodians and outside contractors.
  • Communicating, outreaching, and providing technical assistance to administrative departments to improve or expand recycling efforts.
  • Providing assistance in development and execution of new recycling and educational programs.  This may include community events such as Sharon Day, presentations, or recycling events such as waste reduction competitions, video/poster contests, and training for stakeholders.
  • Tracking progress and communicating the success of the program to community groups and town officials about benefits of waste reduction, recycling, and composting.
  • Coordinating with Board of Health, DPW, Town Administrator and solid waste and recycling vendor to meet service needs while minimizing expense to the Town.
  • Keeping informed and updated on industry issues and supporting other sustainability initiatives.
The position is part-time approximately 15 hours per week, 50 weeks a year, with flexibility to reduce hours in a particular week(s) to accommodate vacation and other personal commitments.
